Cardiff Demons 20 - London Skolars 'A' 14 Pre-season friendly match played home at St. Peters RFC on Saturday 12th April 2008 |
| Match report and pictures by Mark Harris Cardiff Demons kicked off their 2008 season with a 20-14 win against London Skolars avenging the 46-6 loss in the same pre season fixture last year. A good spirited game played over four quarters gave both coaches the opportunity to try out a variety of combinations in preparation for the up coming seasons. The Demons went in at the break leading 12-8 with tries from Shane Goddard, Wayne Beynon and Paul Bartlett. In the second they increased the gap with a further two tries with Paul Cronick powering over the line and with the pick of the bunch started with some slick handling and finished off by Ross Meadows. Coach Anthony Loxton said "We still have a lot of work to do before the season starts but a win is a win so I'm pretty pleased. There was a lot of enthusiasm and the lads really stood up so there's a lot of positives I can take from the game". Demons player/chairman Andrew Bradshaw added "We've got a few new players in the team this year and it was good to see the effort that the guys put in. Some of them have never played rugby league so it was particularly pleasing to see how well we played together " |
